''This document describes the major forces driving organizations to reexamine their business processes. It looks at an IBM-developed framework for understanding the business processes, a methodology for business process reengineering (BPR) called IBM′s Line of Visibility Engineering Methodology (LOVEM), and the following IBM technologies that support the reengineering process through the capture of business rules and requirements: ProModeler and VisualAge Requirements Tool. Also discussed is workflow management technology as a logical extension to the BPR process, as achieved with IBM′s FlowMark product.
This document is written for consultants, information systems professionals, and IBM account teams who are working in the area of business process reengineering, requirements gathering, or workflow management. Some knowledge of business process reengineering concepts and traditional application development techniques would increase the value of this publication.
